Maggie's Lane

"What a special place to be -
Take your time to feel the love -
Please stop by any day -
And share a moment with me."
– Sari, a neighbour
On September 6th, 2025 the lane was introduced to the public in general. This page will show you some of the highlights and explain some of the backstories behind the art.

Every story starts with a title, this one is "Maggie's Lane"

A sleeping cat in midair, hot air balloons, butterfly, a rainbow, and a message for Maggie.

Maggie enjoyed learning about bees from her neighbours who kept a hive in their yard. The difference between drones and workers, which would sting and the ones who were safe.

Maggie had been wanting a cat for years. Her waiting finally paid off when Estella joined our family.

Amy created this from a suggestion from Simone, one of Maggie's oldest friends in the neighbourhood. Being born on October 30th Maggie always loved Halloween. One special piece of this is the cat's head, Maggie cut it out herself as part of a project to build a little "cat table" many years ago but hadn't been finished. It was still hiding in the garage when Amy found it, painted it up and installed it here.

Maggie started riding a run bike when she was about 19 months old. She started pedalling a few months before she turned 4. Being the daughter of a dad who loved biking she wasn't going to avoid it and thankfully she took to it. Her short life was filled with a total of 6 bikes that she rode everywhere. Now the bikes have become flowers in her honour.

Natalie painted this cow in honour of her friendship with Maggie. She had known Maggie for years from being in class with her at Bankhead Elementary. Maggie's love of cows was something she developed and everything that could be cow became cow.

One of our local artists, Don Makela, painted this thinking about all the years he watched Maggie growing up across the street. His style is very unique and well known around the area.
