Biggest gift in life, to be Maggie’s mum Freewheeling

A wonderFUL life, 11 years we filled them, lived FULLY.  Awesome. Maggie you completed me. I will carry these blissful memories forever.

Intentionally Landon and I decided to try for a child. Wasn't easy to conceive, together we faced a few hurdles. Determined. With some fertility help - succeeded, our Miracle Baby was born. Magnificent Magnetic Maggie, our Masterpiece.

October 30, 2012, 8 lbs 13 oz at KGH.

My mum Kathryn, Maggie’s Nana with us at the hospital eager to meet you and help with your first bath. Just perfect with a big smile, and sparkles in your wide eyes. A complete sense of purpose washed over me. The happiest day of my life.

Landon, love of my life and devoted dad. From day 1 hands, involved in daily happenings,  committed to teaching, raising you, providing every opportunity possible. From the love books, comics, you never use baby talk, talking to you like grown up. Clear and correct annunciation would serve you well. I have literally never known a more dedicated parent and partner. I Love you.

Our 11 years of parenting you I can confidently say it has been a beautiful life changing privilege.

  1. My little Mermaid. Swimming. We shared this passion. I had to keep an eye on you, if I turned my back to you for a second when you were little there you’d go, dashing in the lake fully clothed. Swimming lessons before you were one year old. We would usually have our first dip in April and swim through til Fall. You loved to snorkel and dive, became a treasure hunter, and one year you found a shiny thing in the Penticton Channel. It was a new cell phone, a key phone.
  2. Artist. My teacher, how to see things, we feed on each others artistic processes. Dough ball when I was making dinner, you’d make coils, roll perfect balls. The storm, my teacher, way of seeing and expressing herself. We did art together daily most of our life, painting rock, making cards, collaging, cardboard hats, learned to feel, sew, and build things, you name it.

Art Therapy. Hospital You tapped into, independent learning on watching and making youtube; origami, amazing paper puppets, beading and making jewelry. Not a day passed that we didn’t do something crafty together.

Maggie made intricate origami roses with long stems, then she went from room to room on the oncology ward, knocking on each child's door and offering them a rose. Spreading her magic.

“Maggie’s Magic Beads” was established, this little endeavor really took off. Fans were flocking for one of a kind designs. You had orders coming in steadily; earrings, bracelets, and phone charms were flying out the hospital rooms, nurses, Dr’s, the word spread, before you knew it orders were coming in.

Your magnetic force is dialed high. All of us here today, proof of all you attracted with your magnetic personality.

Honouring your life Maggie, powerful legacy

I will attempt to carry forward if just a sliver of the grace and determination you shared with me.

Kind, caring, honest, hilarious person. Maggie trusted us, parents, her family, teachers, her medical team, all friends we met while in vancouver who we walked this “medical parent” journey alongside with. We trusted you.

Capable Maggie

You left a beautiful legacy by being authentic and true to yourself. A powerful inspirational inspirational image.

On the day you died. Oct. 27 An intimate group, Katie, Anna, Saylor, Emmet, Estella, Dad and I, together in a big bed BIG LOVING HUG.

You laughed at Estee gently nibbling on your fingertips

You puckered up and made duck face so Aunty Anna put chapstick on your lips

You relaxed, you settled, softness was all around, quietly, peacefully, gently you drifted off

We held you for many hours, always together. Magically, the skies parted, rain and grey clouds cleared, peace and quiet love and beauty surrounded us, a rainbow appeared. Time stood still. We knew you were moving, charged energy, you transitioned.

Signs, watch for them, she is here still in the signs, her essence is there. I feel and see her often.
